WWF and Pepsico launch cooperation for recycling

The beverage manufacturer and the environmental organization want to work together to promote reuse and recycling.

Pepsico Germany wants to become more sustainable with the help of WWF Germany. The environmental protection organization is to show the beverage producer strategies to increase the reusable rate, sustainable packaging materials and the recyclability of packaging. In return, WWF will reportedly receive financial support from Pepsico: between March 01 and May 15, 2022, Pepsico will pay the environmental association five cents for every 0.5-liter rPET bottle of Pepsi Max that is returned. The proceeds will go to WWF Germany's nature conservation work. According to the partners, they have also set themselves a number of strategic and operational goals for the next three years. These include avoiding packaging and effective resource management, promoting recycling and increasing the proportion of reusable packaging in Pepsico's entire portfolio. Later this year, Pepsico plans to launch a recycling awareness campaign at point-of-sale (POS) and through digital channels.
