Remondis also takes over RKT

Following the acquisition of the dual system RK (now Eko-Punkt), Germany's leading waste management company is also acquiring RKT, which specializes in transport packaging.

With the purchase of RKT Recycling Kontor Transportverpackungen GmbH & Co. KG, which is said to initially continue to operate under the name RKT, Remondis says it intends to complete its business in the field of packaging disposal. RKT originated from the Recycling Kontor Group led by Dr. Florian Dühr, who is now managing director of Eko-Punkt. Since 2015, the Cologne-based company has been taking back transport packaging. Among its customers were well-known companies from the electrical and kitchen furniture industries. Dühr commented on the transaction, saying that the acquisition of System RK marked the company's re-entry into the dual systems market in 2021: "The takeover was an obvious step towards expanding Remondis' system services for product owners," he added. He added that Remondis could now offer customers from industry and commerce solutions from a single source, for example for files, waste electrical equipment, food waste, deposit containers, packaging or production residues.
