Evonik with new innovation strategy
The specialty chemicals company says it wants to use this to drive the green transformation of industry forward.
Evonik is focusing even more on the topic of sustainability and is bundling a large part of its research and development activities in the new core areas of “bio-based solutions”, “energy transition” and “circular economy”. The company aims to achieve additional sales of €1.5 billion by 2032 based on 2023. According to the information provided, sales in 2023 amounted to €15.3 billion. In the core area of circular economy, Evonik's products and services are designed to help close material cycles. This includes activities related to plastics, such as the development of optimized recycling options for polyurethane and rubber or the recycling of catalysts. The energy transition is said to be primarily about the capture of carbon dioxide and the production of membranes for the purification of biomethane and other gases, while the development of new surfactants is said to be at the forefront of bio-based solutions. “With our technologies, we are shaping a future worth living. The three new innovation growth cores address the most relevant sustainability trends in our businesses,” explains Ralph Marquardt, Chief Innovation Officer at Evonik. ‘Research and development are already making a disproportionately high contribution to our growth. We will continue this trend with the new cores,’ Marquardt continues.
