Chief Executive Officer Thomas Gangl leaves Borealis

Gangl will leave the Group on 30 June 2024, the Austrian plastics manufacturer has announced.

According to the announcement, the Supervisory Board of Borealis and Thomas Gangl have mutually agreed to terminate his contract with effect from this date. "Thomas Gangl is an experienced executive with a wealth of experience at OMV and most recently as CEO of Borealis. I would like to thank him for his valuable contribution to the OMV Group over the past two decades and wish him all the best for his future endeavours," said Daniela Vlad, Member of the Executive Board of OMV Aktiengesellschaft and Chairwoman of the Supervisory Board of Borealis AG, on the departure of the current CEO.
 
Gangl began his career at OMV in 1998 as a process engineer and subsequently held various management positions in OMV's refinery business. In 2019, he became a member of the OMV Executive Board as Chief Downstream Operations Officer and was responsible for increasing OMV's stake in Borealis to 75 per cent. He also established OMV's ReOil chemical recycling process and was appointed CEO of Borealis in April 2021. According to Borealis, he was also instrumental in the development of the sustainability-focused Strategy 2030. Borealis intends to announce details of Gangl's successor at a later date.
