Frankfurt am Main, Sept. 30, 2021 - As of Dec. 1, the new managing director of BKV GmbH will be Dr. Ingo Sartorius. He takes over from Rainer Mantel, who will leave BKV on September 30. Until Dr. Sartorius takes office, the deputy chairman of the BKV advisory board, Bernhard Borgardt, who is resting his position on the advisory board for this period, will manage the business.
Dr. Sartorius (57) is currently still Managing Director of the Man and Environment Division at PlasticsEurope Deutschland e.V.. Dr. Sartorius, who holds a doctorate in chemistry, started working for the association of plastics producers in 1996, initially as a consultant in the Plastics and Environment Division. Since 2008, he has headed the Man and Environment Division. Matthias Stechhan, Chairman of the Advisory Board of BKV, is very pleased with the selection of the new Managing Director: "With Dr. Sartorius, we have been able to gain a proven expert on topics relating to the recycling of plastics for the management of BKV." Sartorius has already actively accompanied the work of BKV in the past by participating in its Technical Committee, among other things. "The BKV compiles the necessary data and facts that we need as a basis for a solid and sustainable recycling economy with plastics. Not least for this reason, I am very much looking forward to my new task," says the future BKV managing director. Matthias Stechhan, Chairman of the Advisory Board, is certain: "Dr. Sartorius is well acquainted with the tasks of BKV and its processes and will therefore be able to seamlessly drive its further development. We look forward to a good and fruitful cooperation."
PlasticsEurope Germany is confident that the trusting and important partnership between BKV and the plastics producers' association will now be further strengthened. Ingemar Bühler, Managing Director of PlasticsEurope Germany, commented: "I congratulate Dr. Ingo Sartorius on his new task in a partner function and organization that is very important for us. At the same time, I would like to thank him for his decades of loyalty to the association and his strong personal commitment."
Rainer Mantel is leaving BKV at his own request after his contract expires on September 30 to take on new challenges. He has led the business of the think tank of the German plastics industry since October 2013. According to Stechhan, during this time Mantel has shaped BKV, which was reorganized in 2013, into an efficiently operating organization that regularly carries out projects for its shareholders on topics related to recycling and the circular economy of plastics. "Circular economy is currently one of the most important topics for our entire industry, where we want and also need to make rapid progress. BKV has already achieved a great deal here under the leadership of Rainer Mantel. We thank him very much for his commitment and wish him all the best for both his professional and personal future."
