Dr Alexander Dröge and Franziska Safak joined the ZSVR Executive Board, led by Gunda Rachut, on 1 April 2026.

Alongside Gunda Rachut, who remains Chair of the Executive Board, Dr Alexander Dröge joins the board as an expert in legal affairs, administration, compliance and finance, according to the Stiftung Zentrale Stelle Verpackungsregister (ZSVR, Central Packaging Register Foundation). Together, Rachut and Dröge are to ensure the legally compliant implementation of packaging regulations. According to the statement, Dröge will oversee the legal, administrative and human resources divisions. Franziska Safak is to become the new Secretary General of the ZSVR. She brings with her many years of experience from a dual system and is now responsible for the further development of the IT infrastructure to ensure the ZSVR’s digital future-readiness, the statement adds. With the expansion of the Executive Board and the appointment of the new Secretary General, the ZSVR aims to broaden its strategic and organisational base and thus create the conditions to efficiently tackle the challenges posed by the EU Packaging Regulation (PPWR) and the Packaging Law Implementation Act (VerpackDG). According to the ZSVR, the aim of the Executive Board expansion and the digital reorientation is also to ensure the digital sustainability of the systems and to drive forward European harmonisation via the European National Registers (EUNR) network. The reorganisation is said to allow Rachut to focus more on strategic policy issues and the presidency of the EUNR, whilst the expanded Executive Board drives forward the operational implementation and digital transformation of the ZSVR.
