Vinylplus with more PVC recycling

Die europäische PVC-Industrie steigerte im Jahr 2021 ihre Recyclingmenge um zehn Prozent.

The European PVC industry's sustainability initiative, Vinylplus, reports another year-on-year increase in the amount of PVC recycled in Europe in 2021 to 810,000 tonnes. In 2020, it was still at 731,000 tonnes. With the current result, the total amount processed into new products since 2000 rises to 7.3 million tonnes, as Managing Director Brigitte Dero reported during the "VinylPlus Sustainability Forum" in Brussels, according to a report in Kunststoff Information.

As Euwid further quotes from Vinylplus' progress report, the total amount recycled represents 26.9 per cent of the amount of plastic waste estimated to be available for the EU-27 plus Norway, Switzerland and the UK. With "Vinyl 2030", Vinylplus has committed itself to recycle at least 900,000 tonnes of PVC waste into new products by 2025 and at least one million tonnes from 2030 onwards.
