VCI: Covestro CEO Steilemann stands for re-election
Dr. Markus Steilemann has been nominated for a second term as President of the German Verband der Chemischen Industrie (VCI).
Steilemann (54) has held the office of VCI President since September 29, 2022. The election of the new VCI President by the representatives of the member companies is to take place on September 12, 2024 at the “Chemie & Pharma Summit” in Berlin. “I am delighted that Markus Steilemann wants to continue his voluntary commitment as the highest representative of our industry and is standing for re-election,” says VCI Managing Director Wolfgang Große Entrup and emphasizes: ”His voice as VCI President has been clearly heard in politics and business over the past two years. This was enormously important for Germany as a business location, especially in these challenging times.“
Steilemann has been a member of the VCI Executive Committee since March 2020 and VCI President since September 2022. Steilemann previously held the office of Vice President. He has been Chairman of the Board of Management of Covestro AG, based in Leverkusen, since June 2018. He began his career in the Bayer Group in 1999 and held various management positions at Bayer MaterialScience, Covestro's predecessor company, from 2008. In 2015, he was appointed to the Board of Management of Covestro, where he was responsible for various departments. Steilemann studied chemistry and business administration at RWTH Aachen University, where he also completed his doctorate.
