Transnational cooperation for more circularity

Transnational cooperation for more circularity

10.06.2021

Covestro and Tsinghua University are cooperating in the spirit of the circular economy, as are BASF and Mitsui Chemicals.

Combining circularity with aesthetic design is the goal of a new cooperation between materials manufacturer Covestro from Leverkusen, Germany, and the Colour & Imaging Institute at the Art & Science Research Center of Tsinghua University in Beijing. Together, they plan to conduct a study on sustainable materials from the perspective of color, material and surface, as both announced on the sidelines of the Design Shanghai 2021 trade show in early June.

Also collaborating on a study already launched are chemical companies BASF of Ludwigshafen, Germany, and Mitsui Chemicals of Tokyo. The topic here is how chemical recycling could work in Japan and to what extent circular economy could be enabled through cooperation along the value chain. To this end, BASF is contributing its experience gained in the chemcycling project and Mitsui Chemicals its production facilities, technologies and expertise.
