TecPart Welcomes Two New Partners

TecPart continues to expand its network and industry representation through new strategic partnerships with KIB and COGD.
 
The TecPart Verband Technische Kunststoff-Produkte (Association for Technical Plastic Products) announced the new partnerships with the association KIB—The Plastics Experts—and the Component Obsolescence Group Germany e.V. (COGD) at its general meeting on September 9, 2026, in Erfurt. According to the association, this move expands its network in the areas of consulting, regulation, and obsolescence management. From TecPart's perspective, regulations such as the EU Packaging Directive, the Microplastics Regulation and the EU End-of-Life Vehicles Directive, as well as a potential future amendment to the Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment Regulation, make it necessary to foster closer collaboration within the industry.
 
A key step in this direction is therefore said to be the new partnership with the KIB network. Through KIB’s corporate membership in TecPart, the two organizations could deepen their collaboration to strengthen joint activities, professional exchange, and the visibility of their respective members within the plastics industry. KIB brought the perspective of specialized consultants with practical experience in the plastics industry, while TecPart is said to contribute the perspective of plastics processors and recyclers. The goal is to connect companies even more effectively on technical, organizational, and strategic issues and to provide practical support in addressing current challenges.
 
The new cooperation partner, Component Obsolescence Group Deutschland e.V. (CODG), expands the TecPart network with expertise in strategic, proactive, and reactive obsolescence management—that is, management aimed at minimizing the consequences of component unavailability in products. This topic is also gaining importance for the plastics industry. Among other things, disrupted supply chains, regulatory changes, limited manufacturing capacities, and cyber risks could significantly impact procurement, production, and delivery capabilities. With CODG, TecPart is convinced to gain a partner that brings extensive experience, practice-oriented working groups, recommendations, standardization efforts, and a strong network connecting manufacturers, OEMs, distributors, and service providers. The goal is to raise awareness of these risks among TecPart members and to facilitate their access to best practices and solutions.
 
“With our vision of representing the plastics processing industry with a single voice, we have recently received a great deal of support,” explains Michael Weigelt. “With KIB and COGD, we are now moving into concrete implementation. Our goal is to represent the interests of plastics processors and recyclers even more effectively vis-à-vis policymakers and standards bodies through visible expertise and a broad base.” The rapid pace of regulatory change could only be effectively addressed through better coordination and cooperation within the industry.
