SPE Central Europe invites entries for the ‘SPE AutomotiveAward 2027’. Submissions can be made from 5 October 2026 to 20 January 2027.

The award seeks innovations in plastic components for the construction of passenger cars, lorries, buses, motorbikes and other vehicles across seven categories: Body Interior, Body Exterior, Powertrain, New Mobility, Chassis Unit/Structural, Electronic/Optical Components and Enabler Technology. According to the Society of Plastics Engineers International – Central Europe (SPE Central Europe), only production parts may be submitted in the first six categories. Prototypes, specialised technologies, equipment and pre-production parts may be submitted for the Enabler Technology category. Eligible to participate are companies involved in the development and production of solutions, for example in the fields of design, engineering, manufacturing, materials, tools, machinery and applications. According to the information provided, entries will be assessed by an independent jury – comprising experts from all areas of plastics engineering, the automotive industry, research institutes and the trade press – using a points-based system based on product- and industry-specific criteria.

In addition to the awards in the various categories, a number of special awards are also on offer. For example, SPE Central Europe will present a Grand Innovation Award for the component most frequently rated as highly innovative by the jury members. A Sustainability Award will also be presented to recognise the significantly improved overall environmental performance of three components. According to the information provided, the awards will be presented at the Award Night on 31 May 2027 at the Hotel Kameha Grand Bonn.
