Pekutherm acquires a stake in recycler Grünstoff

The two companies aim to advance the recycling of thermoplastics.

Geisenheim-based Pekutherm GmbH specializes in recycling plastics such as acrylic glass (PMMA) and polycarbonate (PC). According to the company, the investment in Frankfurt-based Grünstoff Kunststoff-Recycling GmbH is primarily intended to further expand this specialization. According to Pekutherm, the two production sites now have a processing capacity of more than 10,000 tons of thermoplastics (PMMA, PC, PETG, PP, PE, PVC) per year. In order to be able to offer recyclate customers optimum delivery conditions, it is said that in the future, above all, the logistics involved in purchasing and the subsequent single-variety processing of the two companies will go hand in hand. "Our recyclates meet the highest standards and can be extruded directly as granules - in a quality that is almost on a par with the primary product," explains Pekutherm managing director Heiko Pfister. Information on the amount of Pekutherm's stake in Grünstoff, as well as on financial details, was not provided.
