PACKLIANCE: a new PPWR consulting company
Three take-back systems have founded PACKLIANCE GmbH to support industry and trade in implementing the EU Packaging Regulation (PPWR).
The new service company, based in Wiesbaden, aims to support producers and manufacturers of industrial and commercial packaging within the EU in the legally compliant and practical implementation of the EU Packaging Regulation (Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation – PPWR). The consulting firm, founded by the manufacturer-supported take-back systems RIGK GmbH, GVÖ Gebinde-Verwertungsgesellschaft der Mineralölwirtschaft and Kreislaufsystem Blechverpackungen Stahl GmbH (KBS), aims to help companies understand and structure the complex requirements of the PPWR and implement them in a solution-oriented manner. The consulting approach is said to be supported by digital tools and will cover industrial and commercial packaging of all types of materials. According to the information provided, the services cover four key areas. First, a comprehensive inventory will be carried out, including role and responsibility identification, GAP analyses and workshops. The second area involves support in the conformity process, which includes the creation of technical documentation, data platforms and communication with authorities. In the area of EU-wide support for EPR obligations, companies receive advice on registration and quantity reporting to national systems, and in the fourth area, ‘provision of authorised representatives’, manufacturers and producers in the EU can also seek support from PACKLIANCE.
The PPWR is to be further specified in the coming years through numerous delegated acts and implementing acts. PACKLIANCE intends to support its customers in this process and inform them about changes to topics such as labelling requirements, recycled content, reuse rates, design for recycling guidelines and verification procedures.
‘The PPWR will have a fundamental impact on the packaging world in the coming years,’ explains Maria Hentze, Business Director at PACKLIANCE GmbH. ‘We support companies in preparing for the new requirements at an early stage and in designing processes that are both PPWR-compliant and efficient.’
