Ineos and Lactel cooperate on chemical recycling

The plastics producer and the dairy group are cooperating in the production of PE-HD bottles based on chemically recycled PE.

Euwid reports that the two companies will cooperate in the production of new PE-HD milk bottles. To this end, Ineos would supply PE-HD based on chemically recycled PE waste plastics to be used for bottles for Lactel, a brand of the French Lactalis Group, it said. It were used at the production facility in Montauban, France, for an initial production run, according to Lactel France. Food safety and full recyclability are given for the milk bottles produced there, the company said. The pyrolysis oil that would form the basis for the PE-HD for Ineos were coming from Plastic Energy, which processes mixed plastic waste from households for this purpose. Ineos plans to use the oil as a mass-balanced feedstock in several of its European plants.
