The German Plastics Processing Industry Association (GKV) has a new president.
Delegates of the four GKV member associations unanimously elected Dr. Helen Fürst for a two-year term to succeed Roland Roth, who led the association from 2018 to 2022. The new president sees the transformation to a circular economy, the supply of raw materials and energy, the shortage of skilled workers and the perception of the material as key challenges for the industry and her association. Commenting on her election, she said, "Our core concerns and reliable partnerships should be the focus of our joint association work. I look forward to political discourse, helping to shape positions and strong industry representation in Berlin." Fürst is managing partner of the Hallerndorf-based Fürst Group, which includes Fuerst GmbH and the two French subsidiaries Fuerstplas and Futurplast. The family-owned company manufactures cans and pails made of plastic (polypropylene) for food contact and is a long-standing member of the GKV trade association IK Industrievereinigung Kunststoffverpackungen.
