DSD with new dual system

Duales System Holding (DSD) has founded a new dual system, Altera System GmbH.

Altera System GmbH, based in Monheim between Cologne and Düsseldorf, is said to have been founded as early as 25 November, according to Euwid. However, the motives were still unknown. The managing director of the new DSD subsidiary is said to be Denis Völler, formerly an authorised signatory at the Lidl Foundation.

As Euwid reports in December last year and now also in the first issue of the new year, DSD has continued to lose significant market share in sales packaging. According to the preliminary market share calculations for the first quarter of 2021 by the Central Packaging Register Office, DSD has a share of around twelve per cent in light packaging (LVP), while market leader Belland Vision has just under 24 per cent. However, there could still be slight changes in these shares. The sister company of Lidl and Kaufland, Prezero, which is now active in all German states, is said to be already in second place with over 15 per cent of LVP, and the Reclay Group is in third place with just over 14 per cent. Just behind DSD would come the Remondis system, Eko-Punkt, with at which Aldi and Amazon now license, with a good eleven per cent.
