Disposable PET bottles made from 100 percent recyclate

Since June, all disposable PET deposit bottles of Lidl's and Kaufland's own brands have been made of 100 percent recycled PET.

To achieve the 100 percent target - not quite 100 percent, as the lid and label are excluded from this, according to the Schwarz Group companies - considerable investments have been made in the recyclable materials cycle. The development of the "Saskia" recyclable bottle began in 2008, and the companies now offer around 60 types of beverage in disposable bottles made from 100 percent rPET. They have been made recognizable to customers with a "more consciously packaged" logo, they say. Based on a projected annual volume and the assumption that 100 percent virgin is converted to 100 percent recycled, the Schwarz Group is saving a total of 48,000 tons of virgin and 79,000 tons of CO2 with the 100 percent rPET bottles compared to bottles without recycled material.
