Congress BW 2026: Plastics Forum on Circularity
“Paths to Circularity: Where Does the Plastics Industry Stand?” is the title of Technical Forum 6 on plastics at this year’s Congress BW.
The 15th Baden-Württemberg Resource Efficiency and Circular Economy Congress (Kongress BW) 2026 will take place on October 21 and 22 at the Heidelberg Congress Center. The event offers a platform for topics related to resource efficiency, the circular economy, and industrial climate protection. In addition to plenary sessions, the program includes forums and workshops with limited participation, as well as roundtable discussions for in-depth exploration of specialized topics. A specialized forum on plastics will also be offered at the 15th Kongress BW. It is divided into several specialized parallel forums and technology-focused practical workshops that specifically address the life cycle, recycling, and substitution of polymers and composite materials. On the first day of the congress, the Plastics Forum will focus on concrete material solutions and circular processes both in the morning and in the afternoon.
Forum 6 on Plastics Recycling will take place on the first day of the congress from 2:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. in Hall 1 and will address the challenges and hurdles of the transition to a circular economy. Using best-practice examples from Baden-Württemberg—ranging from recyclable design to new recovery pathways and closed-loop solutions—the forum will explore how a functioning circular economy for plastics can be achieved. Experts from business, academia, and the packaging and recycling industries will demonstrate how this can be accomplished and identify remaining challenges for the industry.
Forum 6 will be moderated by BKV Managing Director Dr. Ingo Sartorius, who will also provide an overview of the current status and forecast for recycled material availability in 2030. Additional keynote presentations have been announced by Maike Lambarth, CEO and co-founder of Cyclize GmbH. She will speak on the topic “Carbon Recycling from Plastic Waste and CO2 via Plasma Reforming.” Dr. Alexander Kronimus, Managing Director of Vinyl Plus Deutschland, will shed light on the topic of closed-loop PVC window recycling. Dagmar Glatz, Project Manager for Sustainability & Packaging at dm-drogerie markt GmbH & Co. KG, will address the “Data-Driven Circular Economy: Between Vision and Waste.” Other speakers include Oliver Geiger, Senior Sustainability Manager, Performance Materials Europe at BASF SE, and Prof. Dr.-Ing. Jörg Woidasky from the Faculty of Engineering – Sustainable Product Development at Pforzheim University.
