ChemX: Call for feedback on guidelines for a digital material passport
Feedback on ChemX's content guidelines for a Chemical Digital Material Passport (DMP) can be submitted until 30 November.
The consultation covers six guidelines, which will be further developed as working documents and to which further content will be added, according to a statement from ChemX, a publicly funded project of the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy (BMWE). According to Chem-X, the aim is to improve interoperability and efficiency in the supply chain by clearly defining chemistry-specific data points and establishing technical standards. These standards are intended to enable stakeholders to exchange data securely and efficiently. With Chem-X, stakeholders want to enable compliance with various regulatory requirements, support circular business models and increase competitiveness. Within the chemical industry, companies are to be supported in creating a Digital Material Passport (DMP) that records information about chemicals that are an end product for which a Digital Product Passport (DPP) is required by law.
The six guidelines that have been created summarise the common understanding of methodological frameworks, key figures and terminology, and existing implementations have been reviewed, according to the statement. According to the information provided, the guidelines cover key topics such as business and material identity, circularity and sustainability, material declaration and verification. Together with the information models, they are to be used as a prerequisite for the development of DMP models.
With this call, ChemX invites public feedback on the initial results of these guidelines to ensure the inclusion of a wide range of perspectives. The feedback will be used to further develop and improve the guidelines.
