bvse emphasises its role with ‘Recycling Germany’

The bvse – Bundesverband Sekundärrohstoffe und Entsorgung will in future include the suffix ‘Recycling Germany’.
 
According to a press release, the association aims to emphasise its role as a major German trade body for the recycling and secondary raw materials sector, whilst at the same time highlighting the importance of the sector it represents for a functioning circular economy. Recycling has long been more than just the disposal of waste, explains bvse Chief Executive Eric Rehbock: “Member companies extract valuable secondary raw materials from used materials, thereby making a decisive contribution to the supply of raw materials, the conservation of resources and industrial value creation in Germany.” The suffix “Recycling Germany” is intended to express this self-image. It stands for an efficient recycling industry that is deeply rooted in Germany whilst operating as part of a European and international network. “Companies in the sector ensure that paper, plastics, metals, glass, textiles, waste electrical and electronic equipment, mineral materials, rubber, hazardous waste, waste wood and many other materials are not lost, but are returned to the economic cycle as secondary raw materials,” emphasises Rehbock. By adding ‘Recycling Germany’, the bvse aims to make it clear that it stands for a strong, innovative and SME-led recycling industry in Germany. “Our sector is a key part of the solution when it comes to securing raw materials, climate protection and a competitive circular economy. Germany is a key centre for recycling in Europe. At the same time, our companies are part of a European market for recyclable materials and secondary raw materials. That is why, with ‘Recycling Germany’, we are deliberately combining the national strength of Germany as a recycling hub with our European perspective,” says Rehbock.
