Borealis with new Head of Circular Economy
The Austrian chemical company announces the appointment of Mirjam Mayer as Vice President Circular Economy Solutions, effective January 1, 2024.
Mayer, currently Vice President Polyolefin Transformation, will be responsible for the entire value chain of Borealis' Circular Economy Solutions (CES). "Mirjam's outstanding leadership skills in transforming our polyolefins business and her deep understanding of circular economy solutions have made her a driving force on our path to sustainable growth. Mirjam's strategic acumen, coupled with her hands-on approach, embodies the perfect blend of vision and execution. We are confident that her expertise will take our circular economy solutions business to new heights," says Thomas Gangl, CEO of Borealis.
Mayer joined Borealis in 2020 as Director Strategy & Growth Portfolio, where she drove the development and execution of the Borealis Group strategy and supported the various business units in strategy and business development as well as growth initiatives. Since 2022, as Vice President Polyolefins Transformation, she was responsible for the development and leadership of Borealis' Polyolefins, Circular Economy Solutions and Innovation & Technology business portfolios. Before joining Borealis, she gained several years of experience as a consultant at McKinsey, where she worked in Germany, India, the USA and Austria. Mayer holds a post-doctoral degree from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) in Boston, USA and a PhD in Biochemistry/Biophysics from the Max Planck Research School and the Technical University of Dresden, Germany. She is a German citizen.
