Through the cooperation, the two companies aim to meet the increasing demand for recyclates and accelerate the transition to a circular plastics economy. To this end, the Reclay Group (Herborn, Germany) will in future supply plastic waste from its collections to Borealis (Vienna, Austria) in order to obtain high-quality recyclates from it in its recycling plants. The cooperation would give the Austrian chemical company access to a secure and consistent supply of raw materials in the form of light packaging waste (LVP). "A reliable supply of high-quality recyclates is the basic prerequisite for a functioning circular economy," explains Lucrèce Foufopoulos, Borealis Executive Vice President Polyolefins, Innovation & Technology and Circular Economy Solutions. "Our cooperation with Reclay Group represents a strategic step towards integrating the value chain to ensure an appropriate supply of raw materials from plastic waste and improve their recyclability." Raffael A. Fruscio, owner and CEO of Reclay Group, added: "Borealis has state-of-the-art processes for advanced recycling; together we will set a new standard in plastics recycling."
