AI Platform for EPR Compliance Under the PPWR
The GreenDot Group and software provider osapiens plan to launch a joint AI platform designed to help ensure compliance with packaging regulations in Europe.
The new AI-powered digital solution is intended to help manufacturers comply with Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) laws and the new European Packaging Regulation (PPWR), according to a joint statement from the two companies. With the stricter packaging rules set to take effect on August 12, 2026, under the current EU Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation (PPWR), companies face new challenges in reporting and compliance and must meet complex regulatory requirements. The new platform combines GreenDot’s expertise in EPR and packaging compliance with the AI-based “osapiens HUB,” the statement continues. The goal is to automatically collect and process packaging data across various European markets. According to the announcement, for manufacturers and brand owners operating in multiple European countries, the new platform’s artificial intelligence will enable the automated collection of relevant packaging information—such as material composition, weight, and recyclability—so that country-specific obligations can be automatically determined based on this data. GreenDot and osapiens emphasize that the jointly developed solution could be integrated into existing corporate systems. The goal of the partnership is to create a Europe-wide, scalable infrastructure for packaging compliance.
The platform is also said to help companies optimize fee and rate structures across different markets. The solution focuses on collecting packaging data throughout the supply chain. Since relevant information is often held by suppliers, the platform relies on AI-powered workflows and collaboration features for automated data collection and validation. In addition, it is said to features interfaces to national registration agencies and EPR systems to support the increasing country-specific reporting requirements under the PPWR.
