Seminar "Plastics recycling in Saxony"

On May 24, 2022, from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. in Dresden, the 31st edition of the event series is to be held again at the Leibniz Institute for Polymer Research (IPF).

The Interessengemeinschaft Kunststoffrecyclinginitiative Sachsen e.V. (IG KURIS) invites to the seminar, which, according to the organizers, will be held hybrid as in 2021. Two of the speakers will reportedly give their presentations online and interested parties can also participate in the event virtually. According to the program, the seminar will start at 9:00 a.m. with a welcome by Brigitte Voit of the Leibniz Institute of Polymer Research Dresden e.V.. This will be followed by a presentation on the plastics strategy of the Free State of Saxony by Erik Nowak, officer for recycling management at the Saxon State Ministry for Climate Protection, Energy, Environment and Agriculture, and a talk by Dr. Thomas Probst of the Bundesverband Sekundärrohstoffe und Entsorgung e.V. (Bonn) on the association's view of chemical recycling. Thomas Fischer of Deutsche Umwelthilfe e.V. (Berlin) will give an online presentation starting at 10:30 a.m. on "Plastics: A Problem? Ways to deal with them properly". According to the agenda, the event will continue after the lunch break with a situation report on the state of chemical recycling by Felix Dobritz from the Technical University of Dresden. Annerose Hüttl from the Plastics Center in Leipzig and Ansgar Schonlau from MAAG GmbH (Ense) will then report on how the production of lightweight components from foamed recycled material works and how sustainable material flows can be formed with mono-packaging. Starting at 2:30 p.m., an online presentation is planned by Johannes Walter from the Ministry of Agriculture, Environment and Climate Protection of the State of Brandenburg. He will present the results from the special working group of the Conference of Environment Ministers on "Strengthening the use of recycled plastics". Frank Gerber of bage plastics Deutschland GmbH (Großschirma) will then speak on the recycling of plastics from post-consumer electrical appliances. According to the program, the event will conclude with a presentation on "Accompanying brand-name manufacturers on their way to the circular economy" by Roman Maletz of HolyPoly GmbH (Dresden). According to the organizers, the "Plastics Recycling in Saxony" seminar has been characterized by its "informal" atmosphere and the opportunity for in-depth discussion since the series of events began in 1992.

The participation fee for the seminar is 90 euros, members of IG KURIS and LVR Sachsen e.V. pay 60 euros. Registration at the office until May 18, 2022 is requested.
