Joint venture for chemical recycling

Neste and Ravago establish a joint venture for chemical recycling of mixed plastic waste.

Distributor Neste and recycler Ravago have agreed to build a chemical recycling facility at North Sea Port in Vlissingen, the Netherlands. Joint global chemical recycling activities are to originate from there. According to the companies, the planned facility for 55,000 annual tons of mixed plastic waste will demonstrate and advance the commercial use of chemical recycling. In the long term, the plan is to significantly increase global processing capacity and develop the joint venture into a leading chemical recycling company, they said. The plant is to be based on the thermochemical liquefaction technology of U.S.-based company Alterra Energy. The strategic partnership aims to combine this technology with Ravago's expertise in mechanical recycling and Neste's know-how in hydrocarbon processing, they said.
