GKV and GKV/TecPart to go separate ways in future

On June 22, 2022, the delegates' meeting of the GKV confirmed the separation from its sponsoring association TecPart Technische Kunststoff-Produkte.

The separation had previously been decided by the board of the GKV Gesamtverband Kunststoffverarbeitende Industrie (General Association of the Plastics Processing Industry) because, according to a GKV press release, there had been "irreconcilable differences" with the management of TecPart. The outgoing president of the association, Roland Roth, explains: "We currently consider this separation to be the only viable course of action, and it is imperative." However, Roth did not rule out the possibility of TecPart rejoining the umbrella association. TecPart's management team around Chairman Felix Loose and Managing Director Michael Weigelt was concerned about the incident. Loose regretted that it had not been possible to reach a common position on the future direction of the interest group. With Weigelt he had used himself in the name of the federation for a "closed country wide appearance and an efficient structure in the interest of the plastic processors also in the sense of the cycle economy", but thereby no majority found. The GKV further announces that it intends to continue to cooperate on a basis of trust and even more intensively with the four sponsoring associations remaining in the overall association: AVK Industrievereinigung Verstärkte Kunststoffe, FSK Fachverband Schaumkunststoffe und Polyurethane, IK Industrievereinigung Kunststoffverpackungen and Pro-K Industrieverband Halbzeuge und Konsumprodukte. A successor to Roland Roth, who is no longer available as association president after the expiry of two terms of office, has not yet been found at the delegates' meeting and, as reported by Kunststoff Information with reference to circles of participants, is now to be elected by written circular procedure. However, a candidate for the office of association president would not yet be in sight.
