Extended until 2028: Steilemann remains CEO of Covestro

The Supervisory Board of Covestro has prematurely extended the contract with Dr. Markus Steilemann by a further five years.

This means Steilemann, who has been a member of Covestro's Board of Management since September 2015 and its Chairman since June 2018, will remain in this position until May 31, 2028. In his role as Chairman of the Board of Management, Steilemann is responsible for Strategy, Sustainability & Public Affairs, Group Innovation, Corporate Audit, Human Resources and Communications. Commenting on the extension of the contract, Dr. Richard Pott, Chairman of the Supervisory Board of Covestro AG, said: "Markus Steilemann has provided outstanding leadership to Covestro during his tenure as Chairman of the Board of Management to date, setting important strategic directions and driving the Group's sustainable growth. We look forward to continuing our successful cooperation." The early extension of the mandate demonstrates the confidence in Steilemann to successfully continue the transformation Covestro has begun toward a complete focus on the circular economy, Pott said. Following the contract extension, Steilemann (on the left) thanked the Supervisory Board for the trust it had placed in him and said, "We have repositioned Covestro and I look forward to leading the company into a successful and sustainable future together with my colleagues." The Covestro Board of Management, which has four members in total, continues to include Sucheta Govil (Sales and Marketing, on the right), Dr. Klaus Schäfer (Technology, in the middle) and Dr. Thomas Toepfer (Finance).
