Action pact for the transformation of the chemical industry

BMWI, VCI, IG BCE and BAVC decide on the most important fields of action for the transformation of the industry.

The leading organizations of the chemical-pharmaceutical industry, together with the German Federal Minister of Economics Peter Altmaier, have concluded a so-called pact for action after several meetings within the framework of the Chemical Industry Dialogue, which is intended to secure the competitiveness of Germany's third-largest industry. According to VCI President Christian Kullmann, climate protection is one of the challenges of the future, as are mobility, industrial health management and nutrition. The chemical industry were the key to the transformation task of climate neutrality. It could only succeed if huge amounts of renewable energy are available at favorable prices. The support of Federal Minister Altmaier is an encouraging signal, Kullmann said. At the meeting, Altmaier emphasized the industry's competence in finding solutions, which it had shown in the pandemic, and its commitment for the transformation toward CO2 neutrality and to social partnership. Business, politics, trade unions and science would have to work closely together here to secure Germany's industrial and technological sovereignty and further improve the framework conditions for key technologies and basic innovations. Here, his ministry would support the industry's path, the minister promised.
